"Let's Chill" pitcher Supplies: Scissors Beverage pitcher Directions: Cut around the "Let's Chill" design and remove the outer brackets. Apply to the center of a decorative beverage pitcher. Color used: Soft Silver "Merry Christmas" drink jar Supplies: Mason jar with lid Screwdriver Hammer Straw (striped straws can be purchased on Etsy) Directions: Remove the lid to the mason jar and place on a cutting mat or crafting surface. Position the screw driver in the center of the lid and use the hammer to punch a hole in the lid. The hole can be used to slip the straw through. Apply the Merry Christmas vinyl tag to the front surface of the jar. Color used: Soft Gold

"Merry Christmas" favor jar

Supplies:

Small mason jar with lid

Tinsel, garland, or pom-pom embellishment

Twine

White cardstock

Favors (I used winter mints)

Directions:

Apply the Merry Christmas vinyl tag to the cardstock paper and cut around the tag leaving a narrow edge.

Fill the jar with treats or other favors and secure the lid.

Tie the finished tag onto the jar with the twine and finish off with a festive embellishment.

Ornate Mirror (12” x 18” purchased at JoAnn’s)

Mistick

Instructions: Prep the mirror by cleaning with mistick. Let dry. Prep and apply the expression.

Materials Needed:

MDF Board-Pre drilled-White

7 wooden clothes pins

Fabric dye in various colors (can be purchased at fabric stores)

Multi-purpose wood glue

Instructions:

Begin by dying each clothespin in various colors. I used 5 different colors in 5 different containers. I used soup cans and bottles as the dye will stain plastic cups. Add 1 tsp. of dye to each container. Boil a medium size pan full of water. Fill each container about 2/3 full of boiling water. Drop clothes pins into the containers using tongs. Wait about 10 minutes, or until desired color is reached. Remove the clothes pins with the tongs and let them dry on newspaper or foil. Once the clothes pins are dry, adhere them to the pre drilled board using the wood glue spaced about 2 inches apart. Prep and apply the expression.

Instructions:

Materials needed:

· 12" x 12" sewing hoop (purchased at Michael’s)

· Fabric with a subtle pattern

· Vinyl effects

· Medium size paint brush or sponge brush

Instructions:

Assemble your fabric inside the sewing hoop and

pull tight around the edges.

In a small container, mix 2 parts water with 1 part Vinyl Effects.

Brush the surface area of the fabric with the mixture and let dry overnight.

This will create a glossed surface for your expression to adhere to.

You may need to pull the fabric tight again before applying your expression.

Finish by cutting the excess fabric to the edge of the sewing hoop.

Tips & Tricks: Flocked Paper

When working with flocked paper, use paper that is only partially flocked and has plenty of space for the expression to adhere to. Be sure to test a small area with a piece of the transfer tape or clear tape to make sure it won’t pull off the all the flocking. Work slowly when applying the expression and use your transfer tool to help you pull the expression away from the transfer tape if needed.

Creative Ideas for our FREE Product Day!

Take our black 16" x 16" Frameworks Photo Frame (#300236) and spray paint it white (this will likely take several coats). Then cut the expression between the “g” in spring and the “t” in time and apply “spring” to the top of the frame and “time” to the right side of the frame as shown. To complete the frame, add your favorite springtime photo and display it on our Trimmings Simple Easel (#300201).

No one enjoys spring cleaning, but this cute board makes your to-do list sweet and stylish. Start with the Foundations pre-drilled MDF Board (#300132), and paint it with our Toolbox Paint in Lemon Chiffon (#300153). It will take two to three coats to get good coverage in this color, and it is recommended that you prime the board in white first to get the best results. Then add our Trimmings Bulldog Clips (#300134—for the set of 4),then, tie black and white gingham checked ribbon around each one. Once the board is dry and cured, add the expression.

Create a charming piece of Shabby Chic wall décor. Cut the Free Springtime expression in half and off-set it on our Foundations Vintage Embossed Metal Charger (#300163). It’s ok to cut apart the expression. This expression works perfectly on UL’s new Photo Frame. All you need to do is get over the fear of taking a pair of scissors to the expression. All that’s missing is a fantastic photo to complete the piece.

This display is a real treat and illustrates the playfulness of Halloween. The multi-colored embellishments were created by combining two embellishments into one. The message board is great for leaving messages for your little ghosts and goblins—or to remind yourself to buy a treat or two.

I love Halloween decorations. At first glance the simplicity of the black and white combo is quite striking and stands on its own. To add texturizing and “shimmering” apply the our new Shimmer Vinyl Effects in a striped pattern across the skull. Let it completely dry, then go back over and fill in the gaps. You can also build upon the already dried vinyl effects to add more depth to certain areas.

Shoes… can’t have enough of them! We have amazing designers at Uppercase Living and this was just one of the boutiques that came to life in 3D. The great thing about our Grande Format expressions (besides how beautiful the designs are) is that they work well in large area.

Combining the Grande Chandelier and an Outside the Home expression (or any one of our larger-sized expressions) works wonders in a large space… just remember that proportion and color are the keys to successful décor. When choosing expressions for a space, be sure to choose something to be the focal point. In this case, “Treat Yourself, Because You’re Worth It” in Berry Red & Crimson Red works perfectly because it stands out against the taupe wall. To add to the chic feel, a single Grande Chandelier and its matching smaller-sized Vintage Chandelier (two were used here) create a tone-on-tone effect to allow the expression to be the focal point. Our new baroque clock complements the look.

It’s always better to use larger expressions since smaller ones can get “lost” in larger spaces. Our Grande Format expressions are just perfect for that visual impact.

October is officially Breast Cancer Awareness month, but you don’t have to wait until then to share the message of hope. This simple project stands out even more with the addition of Vinyl Effects over the Shimmer Pink. Host a party in August and this expression is yours for FREE with a $300 party.

Cupcakes, cookies, “finger” sandwiches, whatever your favorite Halloween treat, serve them up on this playful charger. Terra cotta and lemon chiffon paint were used to match the colors found in the decorative paper and then used it to paint the dots on the charger. After letting the paint dry, the charger was sealed with a layer of Vinyl Effects.

Using the Glass Charger as a template, cut and piece together a background from paper and mod podge it to the backside. Otherwise leave the charger as is with the clear background

Fashion a cozy and inviting welcome by dressing up our UL Vintage Embossed Metal Board with the addition of buttons and ribbons. An added glow of warmth was created by mixing in gold glitter into the Vinyl Effects and applied to the leaf embellishment.

Sometimes customizing a UL Exclusive™ Expression gives it just the right touch for your space.

Here is a simple love expression that is beautifully enhanced by adding the personalization element.

What teenage athlete isn’t proud to display their name and number wherever they can? This awesome expression was just made even more awesome in your football player’s eyes!

Here we have the ultra-popular Dandelion Dance expression, combined with a beautiful saying created in the MyDesign Suite. (Keep in mind that this is what this design would look like after you put it on the wall; not what it looks like in MyDesign Suite. Dandelion Dance is a theme pack, so you’ll place the seedlings in whatever pattern you want when you actually apply it).

Now this is just plain fun. You can easily pull this expression into the MyDesign Suite, add a custom expression with your child’s name, match the colors of his room…and voila! So cute!

First Signs of Spring

See how easily a space can be transformed using one of our new Decorative Prints. In keeping with our theme of spring, the “Branch & birds” Decorative Print (#17585) has been used. There are 3 different color options in this design, so choose the color scheme that works best with your décor. Since Decorative Prints are removable and repositionable, if the branch isn’t quite where you want it, just peel it off and move it around until you are satisfied with its placement.
The focal point for the tabletop uses our chipboards. “Spring” (which ties in nicely with our theme) has six letters—the exact number of chipboards that come in our Chipboard accessory (#300106). So using the MyDesign Suite, "Spring" was created to fit perfectly on the chipboard. The font,Fantini (5” tall) is fun and playful. Complement by using the colors of Robin’s Egg (#9058), Lemon Chiffon (#9022), and Cotton Candy (#9029) in our MyDesign expression. You could simply choose a single color, but if you’re looking to break out of the winter blahs, don’t be afraid to explore with some splashes of coordinating colors. Glue some matching decorative paper to the chipboard and then applied the expressions. To add the finishing touches to this project, add our UL Dress-Ups™ Gems (#300104), all three colors of the Mini Blooms (#300191, #300192, #300193), and some coordinating ribbon.

Peace signs are back in trend right now. We’re seeing them everywhere, particularly in teen décor. So, now Uppercase Living offers a peace sign embellishment in the Embellishment library (Item #45225_ _ [2"–18"]). We received a ton of requests for this, and recognizing that peace signs are trending big right now, we opted not to wait till the next catalog release, but to send it to the embellishment library immediately.

Add matching vinyl peace signs to the walls, lampshades, closet doors, or other furniture in your room to complete the “peace” look! A splash of Electric Pink, Shoreline Blue, Green Tea, and Chocolate Brown peace signs would match this bedding beautifully.

I just love the border concept. You can make a border fit any space because you can just order enough pieces to fit. Below are a few border ideas.

I love how this border adds a hint of elegance to this dining room, giving it just the right finishing touch.

This is already a beautiful bedroom, but adding the border just ties the room together and enhances the rest of the décor.

Who says the Loopy Line needs to be in a bedroom! I think it brings a fun, playful feeling to this simple bathroom.

Grand Ideas for your spaces

Looking for bold designs that really make a statement? Then you'll love our new Grande Format expressions! There is such a demand for these larger-than-life designs, As quoted by Lamar Lisman, CEO of Lisman Studio and interior design expert, "What I love about Grande Format designs is that they make a statement. When we look at American homes today, we have much taller walls and broader spaces, and we need designs to fill them up."

Because of the large scale of these designs, you may think that you need a large space in order to apply Grande Format. Not so, says Lamar. "Use Grande Format anywhere that isn't typical, because these aren't typical designs," Lamar suggests. "And don't worry about framing a space with your Grande Format design. Instead, wrap it around a corner or a wall. Most of all, don't be afraid to bring in some color! Contrast your design with your wall color and keep it very bright and playful."
Looking for ideas? For every design....

* Place your design in an entryway, on a two-story wall, or over a headboard or sofa
* Use Grande Format to fill a huge wall along a staircase
* Place it on a dining room wall, then hang art on top so the expression peeks out
* Wrap it around a corner or wall
* Run several sets of one design horizontally along a surface, or group them together.

They are so fun and are almost like wallpaper. You can repeat the motifs and combine them. In design people tend to err on smaller rather than larger sizes, but with Grande Format, you can't make a mistake! You can modify each design, remove part of it to fit your space, and if you tire of the design, you aren't stuck with it like you would be with wallpaper.

This one would be adorable in a child or teen bedroom. One idea is to run it on a wall behind a child's bunk bed, so that a portion of the design peeks between and above the beds.

Use it as a focal point on any large surface.

This mum feels very restful and relaxing. Place it in a bathroom or even off a bedroom. I could also see a few of these above a headboard or in a sitting room. Place them almost randomly. They need to feel very natural when they are up on the wall. The design is so free that the look needs to be that way, too.

Don't be afraid to cut this one down the middle and apply one half above a doorway or archway.

Apply the designs in this theme pack individually throughout your home. They'd look great above a doorway or on all four sides of a mirror. You might also use them to frame a doorway or other element.

Tips & Tricks: Decorative Paper with the Square Frame
Decorative paper is a great way to easily change the look and feel of your square frame without switching out the expression. Simply tape the edges of the paper to the back of the frame. Why not use this idea when delivering treats to the neighbors this year? The recipient will be grateful every time they celebrate the season—just remember to place plastic wrap between your treats and the charger so there’s no need to wash!

December Idea Spot

Wow! This holiday season seems to be a season of COLOR! With all the fun color ideas available to us now, why not change it up a bit?

To create this month’s Idea Spot, begin with some existing holiday décor (the glittering metal snowman, tinsel trees, and faux snow) and created a “wintry scene” by placing our Snowflakes Theme Pack (#16867, part 1: Berry Red; part 2: Robin’s Egg) randomly on the wall to create just the right “feel.” Because this is a theme pack, remember to cut out the individual pieces and tack them up with painter’s tape. Step back and see if they “feel” like they are in the right spots. Move them around so that they fill the space evenly. When you are satisfied with where they are placed, mark each edge of the piece lightly with a pencil on both the transfer tape and the wall, then remove the backing paper and apply them.

You may only need one theme pack, but if the space is larger, I would recommend spacing them out a bit or even ordering an additional theme pack to make sure they don’t seem too sparse. Don’t forget to go back and erase the pencil marks!

We also needed to add a bit of “winter” to the bronze color of the lamp base. Using the idea from last month, snowflake embellishments we added—3 each of “Bold snowflake” (#4501902, Bright White; 2”) and “Simple Snowflake” (#4502002, Bright White; 2”)—and applied them in a random fashion. Be sure to order several different styles to coordinate so that the theme is complete.

By adding a few more details (mini wrapped gift boxes filled with tea lights and a small vase with candy canes), you are ready to greet guests with a delightful scene and help send them off with a smile. ‘Tis the season!

I wanted to come up with some gifts that were unique. In the end, I came up with three gift ideas that would be fun and easy and would fit a range of budgets. I am so excited to share them! So here are three holiday project ideas. I have a list of supplies so that you can recreate them yourself.

Not only is it simple to make and very beautiful, but it can also be given as a gift all year round. Everyone will love to display their favorite candles on top of our beautiful glass charger, complete with an etched glass medallion.

It is always fun to decorate for the holidays, and if you are looking for a fun addition to their holiday décor, this is the project for you! What makes this decoration even better is that it doesn’t have to be put away once the holidays have passed. Simply flip it over, and you have a Valentine’s Day decoration all ready to go.

For a unique, inexpensive gift that is sure to please, there is nothing better than our glass coaster set! By attaching personal photos to the underside of our glass coasters, you can express your individuality and share special moments with those you love.
